WAAI
Eemland is an exceptional area and plays an important role in my life. This empty landscape has everything to do with swamps reclaimed in the Middle Ages, the expansion of the Zuiderzee and the many floods that occurred here until 1932. At high tide, the water flowed over the dikes and sometimes they broke. The inflowing water then sanded a vortex hole, which is called a "waai". These ‘waaien' are now small lakes behind the dikes. It is an old and empty landscape where the light bounces off their surface. Resting place of thousands of birds. As soon as you enter this area the human world falls away and it is best to surrender to the wind, light and clouds that move slowly over this wide flat land. This landscape served as inspiration for these 4 guitar improvisations combined with field recordings from summer 2021.

UNDER ROSE BUSHES
First years of my life I lived with my parents in an old dilapidated house in the middle of a forest. My habitat. Eventually progress intervened and we had to move. First to an apartment building. My room overlooked a rose bed with low shrubs. For hours I looked at them and fantasized about life between and under those bushes. I missed my habitat. This forms the basis of Under Rose Bushes. Soundtrack of an almost invisible and sometimes mysterious world.
